The weather in Canmore had just cleared from being dark and cloudy and the sun came out for some great photos. We went down by the Bow River and I suggested a few spots with views. A one year old has only so much patience so we did all the shots within an hour. here are some of those images.

With Winter in full swing in the mountains a great weekend wedding was about to happen. Greg & Stephanie decided to make Banff the destination of choice. The location they selected to have the wedding was the Rimrock Resort Hotel right next to the world famous upper Hot Springs in Banff. I have a special fondness of the hotel because I was right there on opening day back in August of 1993. I feel a sense of ownership that well lets say makes me proud I was part of an opening team. I left the Rimrock in 2002 after being the Chef Concierge and managing the guest services Bellman, Doorman , Valet and Concierge. It was a tough decision but this thing called Digital video was calling my name. And thats how it all started. Sometimes people don't know my background and thats ok, but I always tell people listen to others as their experience and knowledge may be more than your own. 

Any how back to my great Saturday with Greg and Stephanie. This couple without going into too much detail were totally relaxed and ready to have a great day. They had all the people that they loved around them. One of the special things they did was get photographs at the Banff Firehall. Greg is a firefighter up in the Edmonton area and Stephanie a nurse ( hence how they met was on the job ). A couple of other venues such as Vermillion lakes , Fenland trail and a stop at the St. James Gate Irish pub for a quick cheers and break before the reception back at the hotel. The evening went great with MC couple that were fun and kept the speeches moving right through dinner.

later the next day I got a text from Greg   " we wanted to thank you immensely for everything on Saturday. We couldn't have asked for a more dedicated and phenomenal videographer. You helped make the day run smooth and helped find us the best locations"

Well now I was floored with that response and they hadn't even seen their highlight yet!

I edited the footage that same Sunday and Monday ( the job is not done at the event, the work begins in the edit) I finally at 12:45am Tuesday morning I had the Highlight complete and sent Greg a note to watch the Highlight together with Stephanie.

Today I got another message from Greg " We got it! Steph has been watching it non stop since I told her. She absolutely floored by it ( in a great way) Neither of us could have hoped for anything better. you were awesome to work with and have a killer product. Thank you soo much! Greg & Steph "

Well that made my day and I don't think twice of why I do what I do.

Here is the highlight from Greg & Stephanie's day.

A wedding at Moraine Lake, why of course! With such spectacular views of the mountains and turquoise-coloured lake it certainly makes for great photos too!

I was fortunate enough to be asked by Kelly & Jon to be their marriage commissioner for this special day. They had about 20 friends and family come from all over the US. The original plan was to canoe over to the other side and have the ceremony there. We arrived to the canoe dock but unfortunately due to the snow they had decided to keep the canoe rental shop closed. We made the best of it and walked down the path to find a nice spot on the shore to have their quaint ceremony. After that, I started to take photographs of them at Moraine Lake.

Dressing right for your winter wedding – Tips from Aydin

The day has arrived and your ready for your winter wedding in the beautiful mountains of Canmore & Kananaskis. As your photographer might want to take you to some great scenic locations its important to prepare for it.

Here are some tips and what you should bring along.

• You’ll need a warm coat that has a hood.
• Gloves or mittens to keep those hands warm. Add some hand warmers to your mitts on really chilly days.
• Your feet can get cold quickly when standing for shots. If you’re planning a winter wedding in the mountains, get some warm boots that would look great with your dress. Most time, your dress will cover up your foot attire, but, having cute ones will add the winter experience.
• When you’re not taking pictures, stay inside the vehicle until you need to be back outside.
• Keep a warm drink inside the vehicle ready to have when you get back in. Bring snacks  because you’ll need to keep that body energized especially in colder days.
• Try not to drink too much alcohol as it will give you a false sense of warmth, wait until your at the reception.
• Tissues and your makeup kit for ladies so you can adjust as needed, especially when the snow is falling.

I’ve been in situations where bridal parties don’t dress properly, making it hard to capture amazing photos.

Winter or summer its a great place to get away and be one with the mountains and the beautiful Lake Louise itself.

Morgana & Murray made the trek out from the city of Edmonton to share their special day with family and friends that could make it out, but wanted to make sure it was filmed to remember and also show people like Morgana’s grandparents that couldn’t be there. I was able to capture their prep, ceremony and some of their photo session .

They are very much in love and I was honoured to be there on their special day for their Emerald Lake Lodge Wedding.

Machens Automotive Christmas Party 2016

Everyone loves a great summer wedding, but some people love to have that white powder snow the mountains offer for a winter Canmore wedding.

Devon and Deryk came from Edmonton last February to Canmore to have a fantastic wedding in the mountains. They had a small group with a ceremony at Murietta’s all put on by Rocky Mountain Weddings  wedding planning services and me as the photographer. Making this a full out Canmore wedding!

The day was crisp and we got outside to capture some great images after capturing the one at the ceremony and family pictures.

If your thinking of a winter wedding Canmore is a definite place to be and great venues , services and people that love this location.
